Halfway through yesterday, I marveled at how quickly time was passing at our 24-hour event. The meticulous planning and anticipation unfolded into an incredible spectacle, making it almost surreal to witness.
The 2012 Forest to Beach 24-hour race has now wrapped, and it might just be our best yet. Blessed with mostly blue skies, the event culminated in a memorable sprint finish between Ima Fisher and Peta Pumpkineater. Their exhilarating performance captivated us all, showcasing the thrill of authentic mountain bike racing.
In the pairs category, our own Rock Wallaby club members shined. Hamish Haggis and Tony Sporran clinched the men’s title with some outstanding teamwork. Meanwhile, in the women's pairs, Forest to Beach’s Jess Dugmore and Giant Wombats' "Ride with Jess" winner, Wendy Rainbow, teamed up to outpace the competition and secure a victory.
A heartfelt shout out to all our competitors—you are the heart of this event, and it's your spirit that defines the unique character of our gathering.
It's curious how many established figures in the scene skip our event, yet we continue to sell out. Perhaps it's the fresh faces and casual riders, in their toe clips and cotton T-shirts, who infuse our event with its distinctive charm. A huge thank you to everyone for your kind words and enthusiasm throughout the day.
